Win or Lose

BN just won the Sarawak state elections.62 out of 71 seats. Even got 2 free on Nomination Day. But I see the CM Tok Taib does not seem happy with this victory. Because he lost 9 seats,thats why. In all his 20 over years as state CEO, he never lost that many seats. Fingers of blame seems to be pointed at a certain coalition partner. The lost seats were allocated to them. Tok Taib and his partners should ask themselves `how come ?' Sarawak is a rich state.Quite developed. Ironically,the bulk of the lost seats (and lost votes) were from the urban areas. Out of the 9 seats gained by the Opposition, the Rocket people won 6. The Eye,Snap and Independent won one each. It's pathetic to see them celebrate this `little' victory. Being such a `frust' lot,they act like they won big. Go ahead and dream.It doesn't hurt.

Mothers Day

I want a mum that lasts forever I want a mum forever and ever That's the song Chucky sang as he looked out of the airplane window.The clouds formed a fluffy and soft image of Chucky in his late mom's arms. We all would like our mums to be here forever and ever,Chucky. How we miss our mums when they are not here anymore. Mums are taken for granted,taken advantage of.You take away their sons and daughters from their arms to start your own families. Mums ,and dads too,find it heart wrenching to let go of their kids to another's family.Most of us have felt that sadness when your child leaves your nest.Deep inside,we hope and pray that your child will get all the loving and care she was used to. Have you ever been disobedient or rude to your mum ? She hurts but you don't see the pain in her heart.Mums are very good at covering up.She is not vindictive,she is very forgiving . Your food is always on the table,whether you deserve it or not. You should be remorseful for treating her bad. Dad does't give you what you want.Or you are scared to ask him anyway. Your middle-woman,mum can soft talk your dad and you might get something,maybe not what you expect to get.At least you got something. Aah.. mum's cooking ,you just can't help thinking about it.Especially when you are on your own,living on instant noodles and msg (ajinomoto) tainted warong food. Every one thinks his/her mum is the best cook. Those of you who still have your mums, mum in laws,do take good care of them.Cherish them,love them with all your hearts.Don't hurt them and don't discard them.Make their remaining years beautiful and peaceful. You will miss them a lot when they are gone.Don't make you life regretful. `Ya Allah,ampunkan dosa-dosa ibu-ibu kami.Cucurilah Rahmat ke atas roh-roh mereka.Kasihanlah mereka sepertimana mereka kasihankan kami.Masukkan mereka dalam golongan orang-orang yang beriman.Amin.' The New Umno

This May 11,UMNO is celebrating its 60th annivesary. But is it really 60 years old or 18 years old. I just picked up this story from an alternative news site Malaysia Today. The original UMNO as we know was founded in 1946 by Datok Onn and his friends.It was a combination of several Malay interest groups in that era. Its rallying call was for the upliftment and defending the dignity of the race,religion and country. The writer also says that Umno did not fight for independence as some claimed.The fight for independence were by other groups and individuals.Most were jailed by the British or died fighting. Umno's only fight was against the Malayan Union. When the British could not handle the Communist threat in Malaya,they started discussing with Umno about independence. And Umno had to include the Chinese and Indian parties as a package to get Malaya's independence. That was the Umno our fathers and grandfathers were part of. Umno was deregistered in 1988,that means it died in 1988. The writer says that the old Umno was `purposely' deregistered so that the PM (Mahathir) could get rid of some rivals. The late Tunku,Ku Li and Musa Hitam tried to revive Umno as Umno Malaysia as soon as it was deregistered.Their attempt was in vain. Reason,The `Umno' name was already taken and was unable to register. One week after Umno Malaysia's application was rejected by the Registrar of Societies,Umno Baru's application was approved. Umno Baru was born in February 1988.Umno Baru had to make a fresh application to join Barisan Nasional in Feb.88.MCA was the acting chairman during Umno's absence. The late Tunku and the late Tun Hussein Onn(both former PMs) never became members of this Umno Baru . So now,when we talk about Umno,its not the original Umno of 1946 but the Umno of 1988.

Pakshah's First Year

How Time does fly. Some time this month,my blog will be a year old. My first anniversary as a blogger. At first,I wanted to try current affairs.You need to have a lot of `informers' and data for these reports.And you have to be `politically established' to get into this zone.Being a `armchair commentator' is not good enough if you don't have what it takes. There are so many of them already. How about specialising, I thought.Such a variety of subjects to pick. Needs lots of researching and references.Not much time for that. So I decided to start a `syok sendiri' blog. A personal blog. Many `famous and popular' bloggers look down on blogs like this. Of course,they have resources and kaki here and there. Home Improvement

My home's been kinda cramped these last few weeks. It looks like a refugee camp.There we were all huddled and bundled from room to room.Food ,at the mercy of the nearest warungs. Doing a little home improvement ,you see.Barely have time to update this blog. Anyway,its almost complete.Next task,dusting,mopping and putting things back in place. And the garden needs to be revitalised.Most of the plants looked shocked and unkempt. In a few days,hopefully,everything will be spick and span.

Tun Ghaffar Baba

Former Deputy PM Tun Ghaffar Baba passed away on 23 April 2006. He was Dr Mahathir's second deputy after Musa Hitam. Throughout his life he was faithful to UMNO and its leaders. He served under four PMs (Tunku Abdul Rahman,Tun Razak,Tun Hussein and lastly Tun Mahathir. But Tun M let him down in 1993.He was allowed to be defeated by a more financially secure Anwar Ibrahim.He lost his DPM post to Anwar. He declined numerous titles offered by the states rulers until he retired from politics. He is largely credited to the establishment of MARA and FELDA and like agencies to help the rural folks,especially the Malays.Hand in hand with Tun Razak. He should be remembered for that contribution to the Malays. My deepest condolences to his family.Al Fatihah.

The Rambutan Tree

There is this rambutan tree which I planted 7 or 8 years ago. For the past 3 seasons it didn't produce many fruits. I mean 3 or 4 fruits in a season.I got to taste its fruits only once, I think.The kids got to it earlier. So I said to the tree : ` Look here you miserable tree.I'm very very disappointed with your productivity.Three seasons I've tolerated with your poor production.This season is your last chance to prove me wrong,or its the axe for you.I kid you not,I'll chop you down.' A couple of months ago ,had a discussion with the missus and kids. If we got rid of the rambutan tree,break down the side wall of the porch,we could have a bigger porch for two cars.Everyone okayed. Started negotiating with the contractor to build the porch last month. And then surprise,surprise. The tree that I had threatened to do in started sprouting flowers from every branch.At least a hundred rambutans possibly. I couldn't chop it off now,this is rezeki (God's bounty). So I told the contractor, no you're not chopping off my tree.No extension to the porch.Instead,we'll widen the veranda,raise the floor and still have the rambutan tree and a reduced garden. Long live the trees and may they be fruitful forever.

Wiz Kid

There is this very gifted six year old in Perak.A maths wiz. He is able to solve maths problems way way beyond his years. I'm talking about very high level maths (university level). His proud parents took him all over the country to demonstrate his skills. He has been `adopted' by the Terengganu government, cos his dad was born and raised in that state. His parents declare that they nor anyone else would never exploit his ability for monetary gains. Turning seven this year,this young boy had to go to school,just like any other seven year old. It has been reported that this smart boy has been skipping school. There was a possibility that he might be expelled. The boy's reason for cutting classes,he was bored.The maths syllabus was too easy. It is reported that though he was a wiz at maths,he was almost on par with the other kids at other subjects. His parents are considering to enrol him in a private school,for special exclusive education.How that is going to help the boy,we don't know. I hope his parents consult child experts and get some expert advice. Recently ,I was shocked to read this latest news about the boy. His parents are allowing a herbal food/drink firm to use their kid's name on its products.His dad says its not exploitation.Then, what is it? Sorry kid,you're smart but your dad,I wonder.
